Fusion art grant - 2019

Sponsored by the Mississauga Arts Council, Rama Gaming Centre and City of Mississauga, poet Susan Ksiezopolski and artist Angela Chao, partnering with musician Anthony Barr, were awarded the Fusion Grant sparking a creative journey that resulted in the Feel It! Exhibit.  On December 7th, at Studio 89 in Mississauga, the seven original collaborative pieces representing seven core human emotions were unveiled. Mike Douglas, Executive Director of the Mississauga Arts Council, Annis Karpenko, Executive Director of Visual Arts Mississauga and City Councillor Chris Fonseca were on hand to celebrate at the opening reception and performance.

Art speaks in bold colours and vivid textures. Each brush stroke makes a statement, illustrating and liberating all thoughts and feelings. Mindless Doodles arise from the canvas, expressing emotions emerging from reflections within. Outpourings of images awaken wonder, silencing the mindless chatter as impressions surface and connect the art to meaning.

When poetry connects with art, it stretches and shifts self-expression to a new dimension. It creates a fresh artistic voice to communicate with to help translate the language of emotional literacy.  The merging of poetry and art as a tool for creative expression is energizing and restorative.
